FAQ’S

WHAT DOES THE “U” MEAN IN U6, U8, U10, ETC.?

The U stands for “under.” Players under the age of 6 play at the U6 level, those under the age of 8 play at the U8 level, and so on. The exception to this is the players who have birthdays during the season and are a different age than when they started. Players will be at the same level for a whole year, fall and spring season, so whatever level he/she played (or would have played) at in the fall, he/she will play again in the spring.

WHAT “U” DOES MY CHILD PLAY?

The U in our teams represent the age the child is under on January 1 of any given year. For example, if your daughter will be 9 years old on January 1 she will play on a U10 team. If your son will be 6 years old on January 1, he will play on a U8 team.

I LOGGED IN WITH MY INFORMATION FROM LAST SEASON, WHY CAN’T I LOG ON NOW?

We have implemented a new online registration system for all our programs. You will need to create a new account to register.

I REGISTERED MY CHILD, HOW WILL I KNOW IF IT WAS SUCCESSFUL?

For you registration to be complete, you must complete all forms and pay the fees.

WHO IS THE “PARTICIPANT” ?

The participant is your child.

MY CHILD PLAYED U8/U9 LAST YEAR. WE HAVE A JERSEY FROM THAT SEASON, DO WE NEED TO PURCHASE ONE FOR U11?

Yes, a new jersey is required when players transition from U8/U9 (inhouse soccer) to U11 (Rec League). Our U11 and older age groups participate in the Great Lakes Coed Soccer League. This jersey can be used for subsequent years, so as long as the jersey still fits your player.

I PURCHASED THE INCORRECT JERSEY. CAN I GET A REFUND?

Unfortunately, jerseys cannot be returned to our supplier once customized. Customization occurs the moment any logo or number is adhered to the physical uniform. Therefore, we are not able to refund jerseys that were ordered incorrectly.

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW JERSEY EACH YEAR?

Typically no, unless your child has outgrown their old jersey or there are duplicate numbers on your team. Players that graduate into Select soccer from Recreational or In-house will require a new uniform kit.

WHAT ARE THE FEES FOR REC AND INHOUSE SOCCER?

Presently, our Rec soccer program (U11 and above) is $75. The required jersey is approximately $20 and ordering information is sent to you.

Inhouse soccer (U6, U7, & U8/U9) is $50. This fee includes the players jersey.

HOW ARE FEES IN COMPARISON TO OTHER CLUBS IN THE AREA?

If you look at other clubs in West Michigan, you will find that we are very competitively priced. We strive to be as transparent as possible with any associated costs involved with the level of soccer your child participates in. The Fury FC also provides additional Technical Training, Goalkeeping specific training as well as other training opportunities at no additional cost to you.

WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS ADVANCED SOCCER SKILLS? CAN HE/SHE PLAY UP ON THE NEXT OLDER TEAM?

Please discuss this with your child’s coach. If you or your child’s current coach feels that your child should play up, you will need to contact the club for an evaluation.

IF I MISS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE, CAN I REGISTER LATE?

I WOULD LIKE A REFUND?

The Fury Futbol Club has a standard no refund policy. However, there are extenuating circumstances (like an injury or life changing event) where the club will consider a refund or partial refund of a player’s registration fees. Requests for refund of a player’s fees must be done in writing to the Fury Futbol Club’s Board of Directors. You will receive a meeting date and time where you will be able to present your request to the board. The board will vote on the matter. All decisions of the board are final.

THERE IS A LOT OF TALK ABOUT “BIRTH YEAR” CHANGES. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Prior to the mandate from US Soccer, Fury Futbol Club’s Board of Directors decided to move to Birth Year for determining what team a player will play with. The teams will be identified by the birth year as opposed to the previous “school year” designation. For example, if your child was born in the Birth Year of 2004, they will play with other 2004 players.

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND ALL TRYOUTS?

Ideally, yes. The more the evaluation staff is able to see your child’s ability, the more accurately they are able to assess the player and properly rank them.

MY CHILD TRIED OUT FOR A SELECT TEAM. HOW SOON WILL I KNOW IF THEY MADE THE TEAM?

Upon conclusion of the tryouts, each team’s coaching and/or management staff will contact each player or family. No player can commit to a team or be asked to commit to a team, either verbally or in writing, prior to the “team commitment date” set by our parent league for Select soccer, Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA).

I HEAR ABOUT TOURNAMENTS. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Fury Select soccer teams will typically participate in two or more competitive tournaments a year, generally one in the fall and  one in the spring. These tournaments are selected by the Club and/or individual team’s coaching staff. The fees for these tournaments and associated travel costs are NOT included in the player’s team fees and are the responsibility of the player.

WHAT IS RECREATIONAL SOCCER?

Recreational soccer is a program that is devoted to the enjoyment and development of youth soccer players. The purpose is to provide an environment where a child can have fun, learn the sport, and develop the skills that will help them further enjoy the game as well as associated life skills.

WHAT IS SELECT/COMPETITIVE SOCCER?

The main differences between recreational and select soccer is the cost, time commitment, skill level of players, and intensity. Select draws the most skilled players who desire to further their soccer experience through high-level coaching and strong competition. The best players for each age group will be identified by tryout process and invited to join a Select soccer team.

WHEN DO WE HEAR FROM THE COACH FOR INHOUSE AND REC SOCCER?

Players/Parents will receive notification generally two weeks before the season begins to coordinate practice times. If you do not hear from your coach by then, please contact our program directors at:

inhousedirector@furyfcsoccer.com for inhouse soccer

recdirector@furyfcsoccer.com for rec soccer
